State Bank of India (SBI) has officially released the SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification for the engagement of apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The recruitment drive will fill 7,150 apprentice seats across multiple states and union territories in India. Interested candidates can submit their online applications from May 19, 2026, to June 8, 2026.

According to the official advertisement, graduates from recognised universities or institutes can apply for the apprentice positions. The engagement period will be one year, and selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000.

The SBI Apprentice 2026 recruitment is expected to attract a large number of banking aspirants because the apprenticeship program also offers weightage and relaxation benefits in future SBI Junior Associate recruitment, subject to the bank’s policy and successful completion of training.

SBI has announced a total of 7,150 apprentice vacancies across India. Major states with higher vacancies include Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

SBI Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates applying for SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 must fulfil the educational qualification and age requirements mentioned in the notification.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess a graduation degree from a recognised university or institute as of April 1, 2026.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 20 years, and the maximum age is 28 years as of April 1, 2026. Candidates must have been born between April 2, 1998 and April 1, 2006. Age relaxation for reserved categories will be applicable as per the Government of India rules.

SBI Apprentice Selection Process 2026

The SBI Apprentice selection process consists of:

  1. Online Written Examination
  2. Local Language Test
  3. Medical Examination

The online examination will include four sections:

The total number of questions will be 100 for 100 marks, and the duration of the examination will be 60 minutes. There will also be a negative marking of one-fourth marks for every incorrect answer.

Candidates who have studied the selected local language in Class 10 or Class 12 will be exempted from the local language test.

Candidates can apply online through the SBI careers portal after completing mandatory registration on the NAPS portal.

  6. Submit the application and download a confirmation copy.

The notification states that candidates can apply for engagement in only one state and can appear for the examination only once under this recruitment project.
